The neighboring village of Kitzbühel has about 1,700 inhabitants and is located at about 800 m2 above sea level.

Story:
Reith bei Kitzbühel, as its name suggests, is an old clearing site and was once part of the rulership of the Berchtesgaden monastery. The first documentary name "ruote" was around 1190. From the 15th to the 18th century, silver and copper were mined at Rerobichl and Astberg. The first church was consecrated as early as 1188, in the 15th century the church was expanded in the Gothic style and in 1729 it was rebuilt as a baroque pillar church.

Coat of arms:
The black monk in front of a silver castle silhouette in the coat of arms of the municipality of Reith near Kitzbühel comes from a noble family that was influential in the Lower Inn Valley in the late Middle Ages. The coat of arms in turn derived this from the name of their residence, located in Reither municipal area, the Münichau Castle.
